New York Attorney General Letitia James asked a judge to order NovaTech founders Cynthia and Eddy Petion, the company and related firms to pay about $1.37 billion in damages, disgorgement and interest. The request follows an August 2025 default judgment after the Petions fled the U.S. and failed to respond to the state’s lawsuit. James said their departure may make the money difficult to collect.
James also announced settlements totaling nearly $6 million with four top promoters, who agreed to pay money to benefit victims and are permanently barred from the securities, commodities and crypto industries. Her office alleges the scheme targeted immigrant communities, particularly Haitian New Yorkers, and drew more than 11,000 investors in New York.
