Digital Assets Bill Passes NC House

North Carolina House Passes Digital Assets Investment Bill

  • The North Carolina House passed the “Digital Assets Investment Act” (HB92) on its third reading.
  • The bill was introduced on February 10 and is primarily sponsored by Republican House Speaker Destin Hall.
  • HB92 allows the State Treasurer to invest in digital assets and consider them for state employee retirement plans.
  • A feasibility study is proposed to establish a state-run reserve for seized or forfeited crypto assets.
  • The bill’s original proposal of a 10% investment cap was reduced to 5% during revisions.

North Carolina’s HB92, which passed the House, permits digital asset investments with a revised maximum limit of 5% of the fund’s balance. The bill now moves to the Senate for further debate.
