Hobbyists have shown videos of iOS 16 booting on Android phones, including a Redmi Note 12 and a Nothing 3a. A Redmi clip posted October 18 passed 2 million views on X, but the videos do not show a usable iOS phone.
The public ios-sweet project uses a patched Apple XNU kernel and unmodified iOS 16.7.16 files on a Redmi Note 10 Pro. Its developers call it experimental: it reaches the home screen, but Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, mobile data, audio and the camera do not work, and graphics lack hardware acceleration. Installing it wipes Android user data and leaves most security protections off. A separate group says its HackiOS build runs iOS 16.5 on a Poco X5 Pro, but its demo has no public source code or independent verification.
