On October 17, 2026, developer Gathin T. said he used Claude Code to disable 25 Xiaomi software packages on his parents’ TV and create a new home screen. His open-source cleanyourtv project later listed tested setups for 107 TV models from 37 brands. It switches apps off rather than deleting them, and a restore script can undo the changes.
The project fully works only on Android TV and Google TV sets; Fire TV supports only the cleanup step, while Samsung’s Tizen and LG’s webOS are different systems. The project warns that network debugging is unencrypted and, on some TVs, could let another device on the same Wi-Fi take control. One user reported that a separate attempt left his TV unusable.
