Polymarket Investigated Dozens of Midterm Bets: Report

Polymarket has investigated “dozens” of bets on its midterm election markets for possible insider trading and manipulation, its investigations head, Shana Bautista, told NPR. At least two cases were referred to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, NPR reported, citing a person familiar with the probes. The investigations do not establish that the bets broke any rules.

Bautista said a new system monitors Polymarket’s identity-verified U.S. exchange and its international platform, where users can trade anonymously with crypto, ahead of the November 3 vote. It draws on campaign finance filings, social media, crypto and banking data, and statistical models, generating hundreds of alerts a day. She declined to disclose what triggers an alert, citing security.
