Some Major Companies Object to Tokenized Shares

Nine companies, including Verizon, Broadcom and UnitedHealth Group, objected to having their shares offered on OKXICE TSV, according to an Oct. 15 notice from the planned tokenized stock venue. The notice does not say why they objected or whether the objections will keep their shares off the platform.

OKXICE, planned by OKX and New York Stock Exchange owner ICE, is not registered with the SEC or subject to Regulation NMS, according to the notice. Trading would be capped at a small share of each stock’s normal volume, and administrators could upgrade the venue’s smart contracts without advance notice. Nasdaq, which is not among the nine companies, has said it would opt its own shares out of the SEC’s innovation exemption, citing concerns about real-time prices and trade reporting.
