Zakura Proposes Fix Against Quantum Shielded-Swap Linking

Zcash full node developer Zakura proposed one-time viewing keys to limit what a future quantum computer could learn from shielded addresses posted during NEAR Intents swaps. The feature has not yet been added to wallets: software wallets using Zakura’s libraries, such as Vizor, could integrate it in the coming weeks, while hardware wallets must wait for firmware support. Zakura says the approach needs no Zcash network upgrade.

Each swap out of ZEC posts a shielded refund address on NEAR’s public chain, even if no refund occurs. According to Zakura’s post, breaking an address under the current design could reveal and link payments received by the account; the proposed design would give each published address a separate incoming viewing key, limiting exposure to payments sent to that address.
