Google Builds Crypto Custody Security Platform for Banks

Google unveiled a multi-party compute custody platform for banks on Oct. 28. The service is in private preview, with commercial availability targeted for early 2027. It splits cryptographic key shares across separate environments so no single participant holds the complete private key, and it can check transactions against a bank’s policies before signing.

Google said several major financial institutions are testing the service. Alphabet has begun using it to secure digital assets on Solana and Ethereum, but Google has not named the institutions or disclosed which assets Alphabet holds. The current product is not a post-quantum solution; Google said its architecture could eventually support post-quantum cryptography.
