Crypto Hack: $176.2M Stolen in June

Hackers stole $176.2 million from crypto platforms in June, marking a 54.2% decrease from May’s $574.6 million. This surge in hacking incidents occurred despite the market being in a bearish zone.

The largest hack involved Turkish crypto trading platform BtcTurk, losing $100.25 million. The British crypto exchange Lykke was the second-largest victim, with over $22 million stolen. Other notable hacks include UwU Lend ($19.4 million), Holograph ($14.4 million), and Velocore ($6.8 million).

In Q2 of this year, the cryptocurrency ecosystem lost $572.7 million to hacks and scams, recording 72 fraudulent incidents. Since 2011, the industry has lost nearly $20 billion to breaches.

These incidents highlight the urgent need for enhanced security measures in the crypto space, emphasizing strategic importance for long-term stability and trust in the market.
