Binance CEO: $2.85B in Hack-Linked Crypto Frozen or Intercepted

Binance co-CEO Richard Teng said about $2.85 billion tied to a $6.34 billion hack has been frozen or intercepted with help from law enforcement, issuers and blockchain intelligence firms. He did not say that the funds had been recovered. Teng dated the attack to 29 October but did not give a year.

Teng said Binance takes full responsibility and that no user will bear the loss. He said 98% of impacted tokens have been replenished, the remaining 2% are still being completed, and withdrawals have broadly resumed. The Daily Hodl reported that the FBI attributed the attack to North Korea’s TraderTraitor unit.
