Binance hack linked to North Korea’s TraderTraitor

Binance said a hack had an estimated total impact of around $6.3 billion, with $3 billion in crypto verified as frozen as of October 30, 2026. The frozen total could rise as investigators trace more assets. Binance said deposits were operating normally, but withdrawals remained paused during security work and were expected to resume within 48 hours.

Binance said its initial investigation pointed to a compromised engineer’s laptop as a possible entry point. It had found no evidence of a wallet private-key leak, but the investigation was ongoing. Several analysts attributed the attack to North Korea-linked TraderTraitor; that attribution remains an assessment, not a finding announced by Binance.
