Kim Yo Jong denied North Korea’s involvement in the $6.3 billion Binance hack, rejecting the FBI’s attribution of the attack to a North Korean-backed group. She suggested the US could be behind the theft but provided no evidence.
Blockchain intelligence firm TRM Labs also attributed the attack to a North Korean group with high confidence, citing onchain and offchain intelligence. It noted that the laundering activity differed from the pattern after the February 2025 Bybit hack, which the FBI also blamed on North Korea and Kim also denied.
