THORChain’s RUNE token rose more than 13% after Binance confirmed a $6.3 billion hack. It climbed from a local low of $0.59 to $0.67 at the time of writing, according to TradingView data.
Onchain investigator ZachXBT reported that funds stolen from Binance and a September Bitget hack passed through THORChain before being combined at one Ethereum address. TRM Labs and Chainalysis linked the Binance hack to North Korea-linked TraderTraitor, according to the source. THORChain said it cannot block individual swaps, though node operators can pause trading for an entire blockchain or across the network to address security risks.
