XRPL recovers; security upgrade delayed two weeks

XRPL Operations said XRP Ledger closing times returned to normal on October 22, 2026, after operators were advised to change their server configuration. Some ledgers had closed more slowly than usual on October 21, though most continued closing normally. Developers were still testing a software release to address the underlying cause; they had not established whether the delays reflected a broader capacity limit.

Separately, the fixCleanup3_4_0 amendment, which would correct token-permission and other financial-transaction issues, missed its planned October 23 activation after validator support briefly fell below the required threshold. Support recovered, but the 14-day approval period restarted. The XRPLWin tracker puts the earliest activation at November 4, provided support holds; until activation, the affected safeguards are not enforceable. An XRPL contributor said the amendment addresses older issues and is unrelated to the closing delays.
