Hackers stole 18,270 BTC worth about $1.4 billion from Binance on Oct. 29, 2026, according to TRM Labs. Binance’s total estimated losses across multiple blockchains were roughly $6.3 billion. TRM Labs linked the attack with high confidence to TraderTraitor, a North Korean hacking group.
Binance said it was still investigating and had found no evidence that private keys had leaked from its wallets. In an Oct. 30 statement, it said it had allocated more than $6.34 billion of its own funds to cover losses, with about $5 billion already set aside in the relevant tokens; partners had also helped freeze roughly $3 billion in assets. Binance said it would absorb the financial impact rather than pass it on to users, and temporarily suspended withdrawals for a security review.
