North Korea on Nov. 3, 2026, rejected FBI allegations linking it to the theft of more than $6 billion from Binance. Kim Yo Jong called the findings a “serious political provocation” and accused the United States of trying to portray North Korea as a source of cybercrime.
The FBI said on Oct. 31, 2026, that North Korea was involved in the Oct. 29, 2026, attack. It linked the theft to TraderTraitor, which U.S. law enforcement classifies as part of North Korean hacking structures. The investigation remains underway. Kim also suggested that tracing the ultimate recipient of returned funds could help identify the attackers, but provided no evidence of U.S. involvement.
