Cboe Extends S&P 500 Options Deal

Cboe Global Markets and S&P Dow Jones Indices extended their exclusive licensing agreement for S&P 500 Index options through 2051, preserving Cboe’s rights to offer SPX options. The agreement also allows the companies to explore tokenized options contracts, but they have not announced a product filing, blockchain, settlement model or launch date.

Royalty terms will stay unchanged in 2026, with revised terms starting in 2027. Cboe expects the change to have only a minimal effect on net revenue growth. The SEC’s proposed changes to transfer-agent rules do not address tokenized options or approve any Cboe product.
