Hayes outlines FLOP’s AI compute derivatives vision

BitMEX co-founder and Flop Labs CEO Arthur Hayes proposed using the Flop Network’s transaction data to price AI computing power in Flop (FLOP) tokens. He said the price could become a global benchmark for spot compute if AI agents adopt Flop as a payments network. Flop Labs is still developing the network, so the benchmark and a derivatives market based on it remain proposals.

Hayes shared the plan two days after saying he had sold the Ether, Ethena and Uniswap holdings in Maelstrom’s directional trading book, citing economic and geopolitical conditions he called “dicey.” Lookonchain separately flagged about $22 million in sales by Hayes-linked wallets.
