The UK Financial Conduct Authority proposed changes to its Financial Crime Guide in an October 23 consultation. The proposals cover cryptoasset businesses and other firms it supervises for financial crime, with examples on customer checks, transaction monitoring, blockchain analytics and the Travel Rule. The FCA says the guide would create no new rules or requirements; responses are due December 24.
The proposals would clarify how firms assess customers and transfers, including when a blockchain record is not enough to settle a question about risk. The FCA plans to publish feedback and final text after the consultation. Separately, it expects the wider cryptoasset framework to begin on October 25, 2027; the consultation neither delays existing anti-money-laundering duties nor brings that framework into force.
