DeFi Assets Surge to $2.7T by 2030

Standard Chartered Predicts DeFi Assets to Reach $2.7 Trillion by 2030

  • Assets locked in DeFi are expected to grow from current levels to $2.7 trillion, a growth of 37 times.
  • Only about 3% of stablecoins and approximately 10% of tokenized real-world assets (RWAs) are currently utilized in DeFi.
  • The share of tokenized assets used in DeFi is projected to increase to around 30% by the end of the decade.
  • Standard Chartered anticipates that non-stablecoin tokenized RWAs will reach $2 trillion by the end of the year.
  • Uniswap is identified as a potential key trading venue for these emerging tokenized markets.

The forecast indicates significant institutional interest in DeFi, particularly through tokenization, which could channel more capital into this sector. However, achieving the projected $2.7 trillion will require rapid growth in onchain assets and their utilization within DeFi protocols.

Standard Chartered’s analysis suggests that the total value locked in DeFi could expand significantly, with expectations for tokenized assets’ share rising from about just over three percent today to thirty percent by the end of the decade.
