DeFi Volume Surges Past $1T Milestone

October Sees Record $1 Trillion in Decentralized Perpetual Trading Volume

  • Decentralized perpetual trading volume surpassed $1 trillion in October, exceeding August’s record of $762 billion.
  • Hyperliquid led the month with $317.6 billion in trading volume, followed by Lighter ($255.4 billion), Aster ($177.6 billion), and edgeX ($134.7 billion).
  • On October 10 alone, decentralized perps volume reached a record $78 billion.
  • Current projections estimate October’s total decentralized perps volume could reach approximately $1.3 trillion.
  • Centralized exchanges like Binance and Bybit reported volumes of $69.3 billion and $26 billion respectively over the last day.

The rise in decentralized trading is attributed to the appeal of features such as high leverage, continuous trading hours, and opportunities for profit in both rising and falling markets.

As decentralized exchanges gain traction, they are narrowing the gap with centralized platforms, marking a significant shift in the trading landscape with a projected end-of-month volume nearing $1.3 trillion.(Source)
