Ethereum Firm Buys Jet Engines After ETH Sale

ETHZilla Acquires Jet Engines Amid Crypto Market Challenges

  • ETHZilla purchased two CFM56-7B24 jet engines for $12.2 million through its subsidiary, ETHZilla Aerospace LLC.
  • The engines are leased to a major airline and managed by Aero Engine Solutions for a monthly fee.
  • A buy-sell option agreement allows either party to transact the engines for $3 million each upon lease expiration.
  • ETHZilla sold $40 million in ETH in October and another $74.5 million in December to manage debt.
  • The company’s stock has declined approximately 97% since its peak in August.

This acquisition aligns with ETHZilla’s strategy to diversify beyond digital assets amid pressure from declining crypto values, as many firms struggle below their net asset value (NAV). The firm aims to tokenize real-world assets (RWAs) as part of its growth strategy.

ETHZilla’s investment in aerospace reflects a broader ambition to enhance cash flow through diversified asset classes, following significant sales of ETH. The company expects to launch its first tokenized asset offerings soon.
