Coinbase and SEC Agree on Protective Order Amid Legal Battle

Coinbase and the SEC have filed a Stipulation and Proposed Protective Order in their ongoing legal dispute. This agreement, submitted to Judge Katherine Polk Failla, aims to streamline the production and handling of documents.

Both parties have agreed to address any issues in good faith. If disputes arise, they will be presented to the court. Additionally, any inadvertently shared protected information must be returned, destroyed, or sequestered within five days.

This legal development follows Coinbase’s recent appeal, questioning whether a digital asset transaction without issuer obligations is an investment contract. Previously, the court denied Coinbase’s request to dismiss the SEC’s suit.

This case underscores the ongoing debate over regulatory clarity in the crypto industry, highlighting its strategic importance for market stability.
