Crypto Fraud: Hong Kong Flags Three Firms

The Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) has flagged three crypto firms—Tokencan, VBIT Exchange, and HKD.com Corporation—for alleged fraudulent activities and operating without licenses. The SFC’s warning, issued on June 28, highlights ongoing efforts to protect investors in the region.

Tokencan reportedly provided false information to regulators and faced withdrawal issues, leading to an account freeze. VBIT Exchange marketed its services without a license and falsely claimed regulatory approval. HKD.com adopted a misleading name to attract users, who later reported difficulties after depositing funds.

The SFC has alerted the Hong Kong Police to block these firms’ websites and social media pages. This move is part of broader regulatory efforts aimed at preventing online investment scams and protecting investors from substantial losses.

Hong Kong’s intensified scrutiny underscores a strategic commitment to safeguarding the financial market and maintaining investor trust.
