Standard Chartered-led Anchorpoint not rushing retail stablecoin

Standard Chartered-backed Anchorpoint said it would take a cautious approach to offering its Hong Kong dollar-backed stablecoin to retail users, according to the South China Morning Post. CEO Dominic Maffei declined to confirm a launch date, although the venture had previously said a retail offering could arrive as early as the end of 2026.

Anchorpoint released an institutional stablecoin product in August. Rival HSBC launched its Hong Kong dollar-backed RedCoin for the 3.3 million users of its PayMe app.
