Cardano Node 9.0.0 Powers Chang Hard Fork

Cardano’s highly anticipated Node 9.0.0 launched on July 8, setting the stage for the transformative Chang hard fork. According to its GitHub document, this major release includes key features like on-chain governance via CIP-1694 and support for Plutus scripts.

In a video, Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson highlighted the node’s role in decentralizing governance. Stake Pool Operators need to upgrade to Node 9.0.0 before the network can proceed with the Chang hard fork. Current data shows that exchanges and stake pools are not yet ready.

The Chang hard fork aims to transfer project ownership to the community, introducing on-chain voting and Delegate Representatives (DReps). These DReps will draft and govern under a new Cardano Constitution. Hoskinson believes this governance model will make Cardano the most scalable ecosystem within 24 months.

This strategic move positions Cardano for long-term growth and decentralized governance, ensuring its competitive edge in the cryptocurrency industry.
