Polygon has proposed a hard fork of its proof-of-stake network to recover about 70.49 million POL linked to separate Polymarket and Binance incidents on October 29, 2026. Blocking five attacker addresses stopped further transfers but did not return the POL. The plan still needs community and validator approval and would be tested on the Amoy testnet before activation.
If approved, the fork would reset the five addresses’ POL balances and credit about 23.86 million POL to a verified Polymarket wallet and 46.63 million POL to a verified Binance wallet. Both companies must confirm control of their receiving wallets. The proposal says total POL supply would not change and other tokens and addresses would not be affected.
