Former Binance chief Changpeng Zhao called for government help and an industry security alliance after Binance’s Oct. 29 hack. He said AI is helping attackers move faster than the security tools available to financial firms. The FBI attributed the attack to North Korean hackers; Zhao said he had not spoken with U.S. officials but would welcome help from the U.S. and China.
Zhao said Binance covered all losses and that deposits exceeded withdrawals within a day, helping limit wider market fallout. He also acknowledged that the attack was preventable. His proposed alliance would share security findings and coordinate responses to future attacks.
