Bitcoin mining company Bitdeer, founded by Chinese billionaire Jihan Wu in 2020, has secured a 30-year lease with the Monroe County Port Authority for up to 570 MW of power at the Hannibal Industrial Park in Ohio. The initial 266 MW will be available by Q3 2025, with the remaining 304 MW under review.
This former aluminum processing facility offers existing power infrastructure, utility switchyards, and transmission capable of supporting hyperscale loads, benefiting Bitdeer’s Bitcoin mining and high-performance computing (HPC) for artificial intelligence (AI).
The deal follows Tether’s agreement to purchase up to $150 million in Bitdeer shares, aimed at expanding data centers and developing ASIC-based mining rigs.
Bitdeer’s chief business officer, Linghui Kong, emphasized the strategic expansion of power capacity, supporting their growth in Bitcoin mining and HPC and AI.
This move is crucial for scaling operations and reinforcing Bitdeer’s position in the evolving digital infrastructure landscape.
