Binance confirmed a $6.3 billion hack, said about $3 billion in stolen assets had been frozen and pledged to cover all losses. The breach affected hot wallets on nine blockchains in under four hours. Binance said investigators found additional breach points after initially suspecting a DevOps engineer’s compromised laptop; TRM Labs attributed the attack to North Korea’s TraderTraitor group.
Bitquery traced 18,270 Bitcoin, worth roughly $1.4 billion, to 19 addresses linked to the attackers. That was 199 BTC more than the 18,071 BTC Coinbase reported holding for investment and operations as of September 30, 2026. The comparison excludes Bitcoin Coinbase holds for customers.
