Morgan Stanley announced Nov. 4 that it had begun using DTCC’s Tokenization Service to create digital representations of U.S. equities and Treasury securities. The source does not say how many securities have been tokenized or whether they are being used at scale.
DTCC launched the service Oct. 28 to handle securities held in custody by the Depository Trust Company. It initially connects to the Canton Network and DTCC’s private Besu blockchain. DTCC says it aims to improve liquidity and collateral mobility while reducing operating costs and settlement friction.
