Crypto researcher Stacy Muur identified 82 digital asset projects and protocols reportedly shut down in 2026, including Balancer, Radiant Capital, Neon EVM and Step Finance. The list does not establish that every project has completed its shutdown.
Blast announced plans to shut down, saying it saw no “credible path” to economic viability. Step Finance shut down after a treasury breach, while Radiant Capital announced it would wind down after failing to recover from a 2024 exploit. Separately, DeFiLlama identified 100 projects that had announced shutdowns in 2026; it cited a lack of product-market fit most often, followed by depleted funding, insufficient revenue and moves to other products.
