The Cardano blockchain successfully defended against a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack aimed at stealing staked tokens on June 25, as reported by Fluid Token’s CTO, Raul Antonio Rosa Padilla. The attack targeted 194 smart contracts with multiple transactions per block.
Cardano’s network maintained normal operations, causing the attacker to lose funds instead. Phillip Disarro of Anastasia Labs suggested users could help stop the attack by deregistering the stake credentials used by the attacker, earning 2 ADA tokens per credential.
Despite the attack, Cardano’s network functioned as intended, showcasing its robust design. However, Intersect, a Cardano membership group, noted that the attack negatively impacted some stake pool operators (SPOs) due to increased block height battles.
This incident underscores Cardano’s resilience and the importance of preemptive measures in blockchain security, ensuring long-term network stability.
