The Cardano blockchain successfully defended against a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack on June 25, targeting its staked tokens at Block 10,487,530. Fluid Token’s CTO, Raul Antonio Rosa Padilla, reported that the attacker tried to overload the network by spending 0.9 ADA per transaction, affecting 194 smart contracts.
Despite the attack, Cardano’s network maintained normal operations, causing the attacker to lose funds instead of stealing them. Phillip Disarro, founder of Anastasia Labs, suggested users could help by deregistering the attacker’s stake credentials, earning 2 ADA per credential.
Intersect, a Cardano membership group, noted that while some stake pool operators were impacted, the overall chain functioned as expected with minimal effect on transaction timings. This event showcases Cardano’s resilience and effective design in maintaining network stability under attack.
Cardano’s ability to handle such attacks without disrupting operations underscores its robustness and long-term reliability as a blockchain platform.
