Circle said in an Oct. 22 announcement that its newly available Circle Match service pairs institutions redeeming USDC with institutions minting it in hourly auctions. It is open only to eligible institutional Circle Mint customers, requires approval and varies by jurisdiction. Matched redeemers pay a uniform clearing fee that cannot exceed their stated maximum or Circle’s Express redemption rate; Circle says the fee currently goes to matched minters as a USDC rebate, subject to product terms, auction rules and disclosed exceptions.
Both sides must fund orders in advance, and submitting an order does not guarantee a match, rebate or redemption. Under Circle’s agreement for users outside the European Economic Area, mint-side funds held as restricted Match-only USDC cannot be sent to external blockchain addresses. Circle says matched redemptions pay out as fast as Express, but the agreement makes dollar payouts subject to U.S. banking hours.
