$6.3B Hack: Binance Reports No Key-Leak Evidence

Binance released preliminary findings on Oct. 29 about an estimated $6.3 billion hack. It said a compromised employee laptop may have let an attacker submit unauthorized withdrawals, but it had found no evidence of a wallet private key leak.

Binance said about $3 billion in affected assets had been frozen onchain; that is not a confirmed amount returned to the exchange. It pledged to cover all losses with its Secure Asset Fund for Users and company funds. Deposits and withdrawals were suspended during security checks, and co-CEO Yi He said withdrawals would resume once the scan was complete.
