Tether Invests in Bolivian Fintech to Expand USDT Payments

Tether announced on October 21 that it led a pre-seed funding round in Peso, a Bolivian financial-technology company. It did not disclose the investment amount. Tether said the funding is intended to expand USDT payment connections to local banking systems in Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia and Argentina, along with merchant and account infrastructure.

According to Tether, Peso’s products include USDT accounts, point-of-sale payments and virtual accounts linked to Bolivia’s banking system through QR and ACH arrangements. The announcement did not establish how often customers use the services, how much merchants process or the total cost of a typical payment.
