UAE Bans Crypto Mining on Farms Effective Immediately

The UAE has banned cryptocurrency mining on agricultural farms to avoid soaring electricity bills and infrastructure strain. Violators face fines up to 10,000 dirhams ($2720).

This regulation, issued by the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority, aims to ensure sustainable energy use and resource management.

Despite this ban, the UAE remains supportive of the broader crypto industry, reflecting its strategic investment in digital assets like the 59,000 BTC held by the government.

Recent regulatory developments, including new licensing requirements for crypto companies in April 2023, show the UAE’s commitment to a secure and regulated cryptocurrency environment.

This balanced approach underscores the importance of sustainable practices in the evolving digital asset landscape while continuing to champion the growth of the crypto industry.
